San Jose State at Auburn 9/10/22 College Football Picks and Prediction
The San Jose State Spartans and Auburn Tigers face off on Saturday in a Week 2 college football showdown at Jordan-Hare.
San Jose State comes inot this game with a 1-0 record after already beating Portland State in the first game of the season. Even though San Jose State beat Portland State in the first game they only won by four, 21-17. Under center for San Jose State is Chevan Cordeiro and he ocmpleted 15 of his 30 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t look awful, but he is going to need to do a better job of being more accurate with his passes. Wide receiver Elijah Cooks had a huge game catching six passes for 123 yards. On defense, they did allow 270 yards through the air.
On the other side of this matchup is Auburn who opened up their season with a 42-16 victory over the Mercer Bears. TJ Finley threw for 112 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Robby Ashford also played and completed four of his seven passes for 100 yards. It’s unclear how they are going to play the quarterback in this game. Running back Cartavious Bigsby had a big game finishing with 16 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Ja’Varrius Johnson completed four catches for 117 yards. In this game whoever is under center is going to need to have a big game. They can’t keep turning the ball over or it’s going to be a very long game.
San Jose State is 7-20 against the spread in their last 27 games in September. Auburn is 1-5 against the spread in thier last six games in September. The over is 4-1 in Auburn’s last five games in September.
San Jose State might not be great this season, but I am not sold on anyone that AUburn plays under center. Turnovers were in an issue in the first game, and it’s going to be an issue again in this game. Look for San Jose State to create a couple of turnovers and that will be enough to keep this game close. Back San Jose State against the spread.
