Duke at Northwestern - 9/10/22 College Football Picks and Prediction
The Duke Blue Devils will play the Northwestern Wildcats in a non-conference game at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois on Saturday afternoon.
The Duke Blue Devils are 1-0 this season after defeating Temple by a score of 30-0 in Week 1. Duke routed the Owls in this game, outgaining them 500-179. Riley Leonard threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 64 rushing yards in the Duke win. Jaylen Coleman rushed for 43 yards and one touchdown, while Jordan Moore added six catches for 77 yards and one touchdown for the Blue Devils. The Duke defense played very well, holding Temple to 114 passing yards and 65 rushing yards, while forcing two turnovers.
The Northwestern Wildcats are 1-0 this season after defeating Nebraska by a score of 31-28 in Week 0. Northwestern fell behind 28-17 in the third quarter, but was able to outscore Nebraska 14-0 to close the game. Ryan Hilinski threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns in the Northwestern win. Evan Hull rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown, while Malik Washington caught eight passes for 97 yards for the Wildcats. The Northwestern defense wasn’t great, allowing 465 total yards, but was able to force three turnovers in the win.
Duke is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against the Big Ten and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games. The under is 4-1 in Duke’s last 5 road games. Northwestern is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games. The under is 20-6-1 in Northwestern’s last 27 September games. The underdog is 8-1 ATS in these two teams last 9 head to head meetings.
This will be an interesting game because we really don’t know what Duke has to offer this year, due to Temple not being very good. What we do know is that the Blue Devils took care of business in Week 1 and Northwestern was able to survive a poor defensive showing to get their win. Northwestern had a very balanced attack against Nebraska in Week 0 and I think that will be the difference in this game. The Northwestern offense will keep the Duke defense guessing and will get the win.
