The Boston College Eagles and Virginia Tech Hokies face off on Saturday in a Week 2 college football showdown.
Boston College faced off against Rutgers in the first game of the season, and they were defeated by a point. Boston College played decently, but they were outscored 7-0 in the 4th quarter and that led to the one-point defeat. Under center for Boston College is Phil Jurkovec and he completed 23 of his 41 passes for 283 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. One issue in the first game was they couldn’t get a ton of playing time. Pat Garwo was the top rusher but he only had 25 yards. Zay Flowers had a big game out wide and finished with 10 catches for 117 yards and two touchdowns. In this game, Boston College needs to have a more balanced attack with the run game.
On the other side of this matchup is Virginia Tech who were embarrassed in their first game of the season. The Hokies faced off against Old Dominion and the offense only managed 17 points on the way to the defeat. At the end of the first quarter, they were up 7-0 but they didn’t do enough the rest of the game, especially in the 4th quarter. Under center for Virginia Tech was Grant Wells and he completed 21 of his 36 passes for 193 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions. Keshawn King had a strong game on the ground rushing 19 times for 111 yards. In this game, Virginia Tech can’t be turning the ball over.
Boston College is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games on grass. Virginia Tech is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall. Boston College is 4-1 against the spread in their last five meetings. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings played between the two teams.
I really don’t trust either of these offenses and points are going to be hard to come by for both teams here. Turnovers were an issue in the first game, and it’s going to be an issue again in this game. Both teams are going to finish right around 20 points, and the under is going to cash with ease.
