The Florida State Seminoles will play the LSU Tigers in a non-conference game on Sunday night at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Florida State Seminoles are 1-0 this season after defeating Duquesne by a score of 47-7 in Week 0. Florida State won this game easily and outgained Duquesne 638-164. Jordan Travis threw for 207 yards and 0 interceptions for the Seminoles in the win. Treshaun Ward rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while Kentron Poitier caught four passes for 84 yards for Florida State. The Florida State defense dominated Duquesne all game long, holding them to 71 passing yards and 93 rushing yards.
The LSU Tigers were 6-7 last season and lost to Kansas State in the Texas Bowl by a score of 42-20. LSU played an incredibly tough schedule last season, but was able to win their last two regular season games to make a bowl game. This will be Brian Kelly’s first game at LSU after leaving Notre Dame. The 2021 LSU offense was not very good and will need to make some major improvements in 2022. LSU is being quiet on who the starting quarterback will be, but whoever it is will have Kayshon Boutte to throw to. On defense, LSU should be better than last season, but their secondary needs to prove that they can defend the pass better.
Florida State is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games. The under is 5-0 in Florida State’s last 5 games. LSU is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The over is 5-1 in LSU’s last 6 neutral site games.
Florida State did what they needed to do in their first game against Duquesne, but it is tough to get a read on them after playing such a lowly opponent. LSU will be looking to start the Brian Kelly era off with a win and will look to be better than they were last season. LSU will have the crowd behind them and I think they will start fast. I am taking the over in this game and expect Boutte to have a huge night.
