The NC State Wolfpack will play the East Carolina Pirates in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina.
The NC State Wolfpack were 9-3 last season and made it to the Holiday Bowl against UCLA, but the game was cancelled. NC State had a good season in 2021 and finished by winning four of their last five games. The Wolfpack are expected to have another good season in 2022, but need to start with a win here. Devin Leary returns at the quarterback position and is poised for a big year. NC State is returning most of their offense from 2021 and should be even better than last year. On defense, NC State should be very good once again this season.
The East Carolina Pirates were 7-5 last season and made it to the Military Bowl, which was also cancelled. East Carolina finished the season strong, winning four of their last five games. East Carolina does return their starting quarterback, Holton Ahlers, who needs to have a big game to give the Pirates a chance. Like the Wolfpack, East Carolina has a good amount of starters returning on offense that is going to make them dangerous this year. On Defense, East Carolina should be decent, but NC State will hit some big plays on them.
NC State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against the AAC and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 road games. The over is 7-3 in NC State’s last 10 games. East Carolina is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against the ACC. The over is 7-1 in East Carolina’s last 8 games against the ACC. The home team is 5-1 ATS in these two teams last 6 head to head meetings.
NC State hasn’t won at East Carolina in about 15 years, but this is arguably one of the best teams they have had in a while. East Carolina should be a dangerous team as well and I think they will give NC State all they can handle. I think we are going to see this game turn into a track meet and I think the total is too low. I like the over here.
David’s Pick Over 51.5
