The Connecticut Huskies will play the Utah State Aggies in Week 0 of the college football schedule at Maverik Stadium in Logan, Utah on Saturday afternoon.

The Connecticut Huskies were not very good last season and finished with a 1-11 record. Connecticut’s lone win came against Yale by a score of 21-15. It sounds like the starting quarterback will be Ta’Quan Robinson, who was a transfer from Penn State. Connecticut’s defense was not very good last year, allowing at least 38 points in eight of their twelve games. Connecticut has had an offseason with new coach Jim Mora, which should help make the Huskies a more competitive team, but they still have a long way to go.

The Utah State Aggies finished with an 11-3 record last season and defeated San Diego State for the Mountain West Championship. The Aggies had a great season in 2021 and return starting quarterback Logan Bonner. Utah State did lose their best wide receiver and have some questions on the offensive line and with the backup running back. On defense, Utah State lost a good amount of their production from last season, so we will have to see how that unit operates with some new faces on the field.

Utah State comes into this season opening game looking to build on what they were able to accomplish last season, while UCONN is hoping that they can field more of a competitive team this season. Utah State should have a pretty solid offense that puts up plenty of points against a poor Huskies defense. The question will be how does UCONN’s offense do against Utah State’s defense that is missing some key parts from a year ago. I think this game sets up to be a track meet and I like the over here.
