The Houston Cougars and Auburn Tigers face off on Tuesday in a college football showdown in the Birmingham Bowl at Protective Stadium. 

The Houston Cougars come into this game with an 11-2 record and they have gone 7-6 against the spread. In the last game against Cincinnati, Houston was only down by one point at halftime, but in the third quarter they gave up 21 points, and that led to the 15 point defeat. Houston is an elite offensive team averaging 38.8 points while their defense is giving up 19.8 points per game. Alton McCaskill has been the top player on the ground putting up 883 yards and 16 touchdowns. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Auburn Tigers who sit with a 6-6 record and they have gone 6-6 against the spread. Even though Auburn has found success this season, they are going to be without their starting quarterback Bo Nix who has left the program. It appears that TJ Finley will start the game and he has thrown for 600 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. The top running back has been Tank Bigsby who has rushed for 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns. Auburn is averaging 29.6 points while their defense is giving up 22.2 points per game. If Auburn wants to win this game the defense is going to need to be good. 

Auburn is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games on fieldturf. The under is 4-0 in Auburn’s last four games following an against-the-spread win. The over is 4-0 in Houston’s last four games on fieldturf. The Tigers are 0-4 against the spread in their last 4 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.

I don’t trust the Auburn offense, and their lack of scoring is going to let them down in this game. Houston is going to run up the score, and Auburn isn’t going to have any chance to keep this game close. Back Houston to win this game and cash the plus money.
