Two impressive programs will meet at the Cure Bowl when the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers take on the Northern Illinois Huskies. 

Unfortunately, Coastal did not make the Sun Belt Championship. They beat the South Alabama Jaguars in their last contest in late November. 

Grayson McCall has been one of the most impressive quarterbacks this season. He has thrown for 2,558 yards with 23 touchdowns to 3 interceptions on the year. He has a QBR of 81.1 which is 10th in the nation.

Coastal Carolina is 10-2 on the season with two of their losses coming in extremely close games. The Chanticleers have one of the most explosive offenses in the nation as they are ranked seventh in yards per game with 493.1 per contest. Defensively they are holding teams to 20 points per game and 326.5 total yards. 

The Huskies rolled in the MAC Championship Game and now have a chance to complete the year with the program’s eighth season of double-digit wins. The Huskies concluded with a 41-23 win over Kent State in the conference title game on December 4th. 

The Huskies of Northern Illinois are led by veteran quarterback Rocky Lombardi, who transferred from Michigan State prior to the start of this season. He completed 58.1% of his passes for 2,416 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has a QBR of 64.4 which is 54th in the nation. 

The Huskies finished the regular season ranked No. 52 on the offensive side of the field, averaging 422.0 yards per game. They allowed opponents to score 32 points per game and earn 448 yards a game.

The Huskies are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Huskies are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Chanticleers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite. I think Coastal can win this one but not by more than a touchdown. I’ll take the points with the Huskies in this one as they can keep the Cure Bowl interesting.
