The Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes face off on Friday in the Pac-12 Championship game at Allegiant Stadium. These two teams faced off on November 20th and it was Utah that won that game 38-7.
Oregon comes into this game with a 10-2 record overall and they have gone 5-7 against the spread. Oregon has looked really good for the most part, but they have to forget about the way they played a few weeks ago against Utah. In the last game, Oregon bounced back in a big way against Oregon State. The offense was elite putting up 59 points and that was enough to come away with the victory. Oregon is averaging 33.2 points while their defense is giving up 24.42 points per game. Against Utah, Oregon had issues running the ball and they needed to have more success on the ground. Travis Dye has rushed for 1,036 yards and 14 touchdowns and they need him to be good in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Utah Utes who sit with a 9-3 record and they have gone 5-7 against the spread. Utah has won five games in a row and that includes that win against Oregon two games ago. In the last game against Colorado, it wasn’t the most dominant game, but they were still able to win 28-13. Utah is averaging 35.3 points while their defense is giving up 21.5 points per game. Cameron Rising has been the top player for Utah throwing for 2,109 yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions. In this game, Utah is going to need the defense to be strong again.
Oregon is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games in December. Utah is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall. The over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings between Oregon and Utah.
Utah’s defense is going to lock down Oregon and that is going to lead to Oregon having issues again in this game. Oregon is going to have issues finding a balanced attack and moving the ball will be tough. Look for Utah to win this game by at least ten points, and they will cover the spread.
