Two teams will end completely different regular seasons when the Air Force Falcons play host to the UNLV Rebels on Friday afternoon from Falcon Stadium in a Mountain West matchup.
Last time out for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels was a tough loss to San Diego State, 28-20. After starting 0-8, UNLV picked up two consecutive wins before falling to San Diego State. After Cameron Friel went down with an injury on a sack, the Rebels went to backup quarterback Justin Rogers. Rogers would go on to become just the second UNLV quarterback to throw for at least 300 yards in a game since 2018. The former TCU transfer completed 15-of-21 attempts for 305 yards and two touchdowns.
The Rebels are only averaging 21 points per game and are ranked 116th nationally in total yards per game. They are giving up just under 400 yards per game.
On the year, QB Cameron Field has eleven interceptions compared to six touchdowns which explains why this team has struggled to win games.
Air Force racked up a season-high 476 yards on the ground on 83 rushes in their win against the Falcons. They had big leads in that game but couldn’t cover as they only won by two points.
The Falcons of Air Force are averaging just shy of 30 points per game on the backs of an offense that averages over 400 yards per game. They rank first in rushing yards per game and rushing attempts per game but are last in most passing categories.
For the Air Force Falcons, they haven't gone to their QB as much as most teams. Quarterback Haaziq Daniels averages nearly 85 yards per game through the air.
The underdog is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the Rebels are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
The Rebels are also 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog. They have played their best football of the year in their last three games. I don’t think they can win this one, but I think they will be able to keep it closer than 18 as this will serve as their season finale.
