The Colorado Buffaloes and Utah Utes face off on Friday in a college football showdown at Rice-Eccles Stadium. When these two teams faced off in December of 2020 it was Utah that won 38-21. 

Colorado has really struggled this season sitting with a 4-7 record overall and they have gone 4-6 against the spread. Even though they have had struggles, they are coming off a big win against Washington. The defense only gave up 17 points, and that was enough to come away with the victory. Colorado is averaging 19.3 points while their defense is giving up 26.5 points per game. Under center for Colorado is Brendon Lewis who has thrown for 1,4556 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions. In this game, Colorado is going to need the defense to be strong again. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Utah Utes who sit with an 8-3 record and they will be playing in the Pac-12 Championship next weekend no matter what happens in this game. Utah has found a ton of success this season but more impressive was their last game. Against Oregon the defense was elite giving up only seven points, while the offense put up 38 points, and that led to the victory. Utah is averaging 35.9 points while their defense is giving up 22.3 points per game. Under center for Utah is Cameron Rising who has thrown for 1,930 yards, 14 touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Colorado is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games played on fieldturf. The over is 4-0 in Colorado’s last four games against a team with a winning record. The under is 4-0 in Buffaloes last 4 games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.The over is 4-0 in Utes last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Utah is the better team, and even though they really don’t need a win in this game, they are going to have no issues running up the score. Look for Utes to run up the score and win this game in blowout fashion. Back Utah against the spread.
