The MAC regular season finale will be hosted from Huskie Stadium when the Northern Illinois Huskies face off against the Western Michigan Broncos. The Broncos lost a close one against Eastern Michigan last time out. The Huskies topped Buffalo in overtime in their previous game to secure 1st place in the division.
Western Michigan is at the bottom of the MAC West this year and is coming off a tough loss on the road last week to Eastern Michigan 22-21. Kaleb Eleby was decent, throwing for over 300 yards on 22-29 passing and one touchdown and 1 interception.
Sophomore QB Kaleb Eleby has thrown for 2777 passing yards. Eleby also has 16 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. The Broncos have a running back dynamic duo in Sean Tyler who has registered 889 yards on an average of 6 yards per carry. La’Darius Jefferson is right behind with 766 yards.
Western Michigan is scoring an average of 29.8 points which is ranked 60th in the nation. They are allowing an average of 29.3 points, landing them 89th overall.
The Huskies are coming off an overtime win at Buffalo last Wednesday. Buffalo tied the game in the final seconds of regulation. A touchdown seemed guaranteed for Buffalo in OT, until they fumbled at the 2 yard line. Clint Ratkovich scored a 25 yard touchdown on the first play of the Huskies’ possession in overtime. Rocky Lombardi was unimpressive in this last game throwing for just 197 yards on 17-27 with no touchdowns and only 14 yards on the ground.
Junior QB, Rocky Lombardi has tallied 2314 passing yards along with 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He has collected 390 yards on the ground.
The rush defense is decent, placing 65th overall while the pass defense is pegged at 115th. The Huskies stand 45th in the nation with an average of 31.6 points. They are allowing an average of 32.7 points which ranks 109th.
The Huskies are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and are 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
The Broncos are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games as a road favorite and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games.
I like the Huskies in this one, as they have proved to be a team worth investing money into, especially after the last game. I like them to win outright, but I’ll take the points to be safe.
