The UConn Huskies and UCF Knights face off on Saturday in a non-conference college football showdown at Bright House Networks Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2019, UCF came away with the 56-21 victory.
Connecticut is having another terrible season sitting with a 1-9 record overall and none of the games have been all that close. Two games ago against Middle Tennessee, UConn lost 44-13. UConn is averaging 15.3 points while their defense is giving up 36.8 points per game. In the last game Jack Zergoiotis was the starting quarterback he completed 9 of his 21 passses for 90 yards and two interceptions. Steven Krajewski also completed six of his 12 passes but they only went for 26 yards. In this game if UConn wants to come away with the victory the offense is going to need to be better.
On the other side of this matchup is the UCF Knights who sit with a 6-4 record overall but in the last game they had a bad loss against SMU. UCF’s defense gave up 55 points, and the defense has been an issue this year. The Knights are averaging 32 points per game while their defense is giving up 27.2 points per game. Under center for UCF is Mike Keene who has thrown for 1.263 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Running back Isaiah Bower has also rushed for 548 yards and seven touchdowns.
Connecticut is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as an underdog. UCF is 4-9 against the spread in their last 13 home games. The over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings. The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Central Florida.
This total is too low. Central Florida is going to have no issues running up the score, and they might get close to covering this number by themselves. UConn also will find a little success against the Knight's terrible defense, and that will lead to a high-scoring affair. Back the over.
