The UAB Blazers and UTSA Roadrunners face off on Saturday in a Conference USA college football showdown at Alamodome. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was UAB that came away with the 20-13 victory.
The UTSA Roadrunners have had quite the season so far sitting with a perfect 10-0 record, and they still aren’t getting enough attention for how well they have played. In the last game against Southern Miss, UTSA could only manage 27 points, which was probably a disappointment for them. Texas San Antonio is averaging 38.6 points while their defense is giving up 19 points per game. Under center for the Roadrunners is Frank Harris who has thrown for 2,306 yards 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Sincere McCormick has also rushed 220 times for 1,150 yards and 11 touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the UAB Blazers who sit with a 7-3 record overall and they have won two games in a row. In the last game against Marshall, the defense was good giving up only 14 points, and that led to the seven-point victory. UAB is averaging 28 points per game while their defense is giving up 21.5 points per game. The Blazers have a very balanced offensive attack and that is going to be key in this game. Under center for UAB is Dylan Hopkins who has thrown for 1,723 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. Running back DeWayne McBride has rushed for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns.
UAB is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall. UTSA is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games played in conference games. The under is 9-3 in UAB’s last 12 games. The under is 6-0-1 in UTSA’s last seven home games.
This is a big game for both teams, and I expect it’s going to be a very defensive battle. Both offenses aren’t going to want to make a critical mistake, and especially in the first half, both teams are going to get out to a slow start. Back the under to cash.
