The New Mexico Lobos and Boise State Broncos face off on Saturday in a Mountain West college football showdown at Albertson Stadium. When these two teams last faced off in 2019 Boise State came away with the 42-9 victory.
The New Mexico Lobos come into this game with a 3-7 record overall but they have had a couple of big wins including a few games ago against Wyoming where they only gave up three points. New Mexico is averaging 13.6 points while their defense is giving up 26.9 points per game. One issue for this New Mexico team has been their lack of passing game. In the last game against Fresno State Isaiah Chavez only threw the ball seven times for 34 yards and an interception. If New Mexico wants any chance in this game, they are going to need to find a way to get some offensive production out of the passing game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Boise State Broncos who sit with a 6-4 record overall and they have won three games in a row. In the last game against Wyoming, the defense was strong giving up only 13 points and that led to the 23-13 victory. Boise State is averaging 29.7 points while their defense is giving up 20.1 points per game. Under center for Boise State is Hank Bachmeier who has thrown for 2,711 yards, 17 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Top wide receiver Khalil Shakir has been the best wide receiver throwing for 927 yards and five touchdowns.
New Mexico is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games as an underdog. Boise State is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games as a favorite.
