The Minnesota Golden Gophers and Indiana Hoosiers face off on Saturday in a Big Ten college football showdown at The Rock. When these two teams faced off in 2018, Minnesota came away with the 38-31 victory.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers sit with a 6-4 record overall but they have lost two games in a row. In the last game against Iowa, they were competitive but were outscored 10-6 in the 4th quarter and that led to the loss. Minnesota is averaging 25.5 points while their defense is giving up 19.2 points per game. Minnesota is led by Tanner Morgan but he is having a down year having thrown for only 1,540 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Ky Thomas and Bucky Irving are the top two running backs available for this team. Thomas has rushed for 520 yards and two touchdowns, while Irving has rushed for 461 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Indiana Hoosiers who sit with a 2-8 record overall and in the last game they lost to Rutgers 38-3. Rutgers isn’t that great of a team, so only scoring three points against them was a bit shocking. Indiana is averaging 18.6 points while their defense is giving up 32 points per game. One big issue for Indiana is they don’t really have a solid starting quarterback, and in the last game they had three different players who threw 10 passes. The best player for Indiana on the ground is Stephen Carr who has rushed for 600 yards and six touchdowns.
Minnesota is 12-3-1 against the spread in their last 16 road games. Indiana is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games against a team with a losing record. The under is 5-2 in Minnesota’s last seven road games. The home team is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. Minnesota is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings against Indiana.
Minnesota’s offense hasn’t been great, but Indiana’s defense is awful, and the Gophers will run wild in this game. Indiana won’t even find the end zone in this game, and Minnesota will win this game in blowout fashion. Back Minnesota against the spread.
