The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and LSU Tigers face off on Saturday in a non-conference college football showdown at Tiger Stadium.
Louisiana Monroe comes into this game with a 4-6 record and they have gone 3-6-1 against the spread. Coming into this game the Warhawks have lost three games in a row, including the last game against Arkansas State who they lost to by three points. Louisiana-Monroe is averaging 22.1 points while their defense is giving up 35.4 points per game. Rhett Rodriguez got the start in the last game throwing for 160 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The turnovers were a big problem for him and they are going to need him to be a lot better in this game. If the turnovers continue, they could have some issues.
On the other side of this matchup is the LSU Tigers who sit with a 4-6 record overall but they have been more competitive as of late. Two games ago against Alabama they lost by six points, and in the last game against Arkansas, they lost by three points in overtime. Over the previous two games, LSU has given up only 36 points total and that is a good sign for the defense. LSU is averaging 27.1 points while their defense is giving up 26.6 points per game. Under center for LSU is Max Johnson who has thrown for 2,190 yards, 22 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. In this game, if the defense is good, they will be in good shape to come away with the victory.
Louisiana-Monroe is 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 games in November. LSU is 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games in November. The under is 17-8 in Louisiana Monroe’s last 25 road games. The under is 5-2 in LSU’s last seven games overall.
LSU’s defense has looked better as of late and I expect they are going to have strong defense again in this game. It might not be enough to come away with a cover of the spread, but it’s going to be enough to keep this game low scoring. Back the under to cash.
