The Colorado State Rams and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors face off on Saturday in a Mountain West college football showdown at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex. When these two last faced off in 2018 it was Hawaii that came away with the 43-34 victory.
Colorado State has had some major issues so far this season sitting with a 3-7 record overall. A big problem for this team has been with the defense and in the last game against Air Force they gave up 35 points. Colorado State is averaging 22.9 points while their defense is giving up 23.7 points per game. Under center for Colorado State is Todd Centeio who has thrown for 2,246 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions. In this game the offense needs to move the ball, and they can’t fall behind by a touchdown or two early.
On the other side of this matchup is Hawaii who sits with a 4-7 record overall and they have lost three games in a row. Over the last two games, Hawaii has scored only 23 points total, and if they want any chance in this game, the offense is going to need to be better. Hawaii is averaging 26 points while their defense is giving up 31.7 points per game. One problem this season for Hawaii has been the turnovers and in the last game quarterback Chevian Cordeiro threw two interceptions. On the season Cordeiro has thrown for 2,064 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Hawaii is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games in November. Hawaii is 14-31-2 against the spread in their last 47 home games. The under is 4-1 in Colorado State’s last five road games. The under is 14-3 in Hawaii’s last 17 conference games. The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings.
When these two teams have faced off the over has been a strong play, and I expect Hawaii’s offense is going to find plenty of success in this game. I don’t know if it’s going to be enough to come away with a victory, but it’s going to be enough for the over to cash.
