The Appalachian State Mountaineers and Troy Trojans face off on Saturday in a Sun Belt conference college football showdown at Veterans Memorial Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020, it was Appalachian State that won 47-10. 

The Appalachian State Mountaineers come into this game with an 8-2 record and in their last game against South Alabama they won 31-7. On the other side of this matchup is the Troy Trojans who sit with a 5-5 record and they have gone 3-3 in conference play. In the last game against Louisiana, Troy was competitive but in the second half they struggled and ended up losing 35-21. Troy is averaging 25.7 points while their defense is giving up 23.1 points per game. The starting quarterback for Troy is Gunnar Watson and he has thrown for 1,217 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception. In this game Troy’s defense needs to slow down the run. If they can’t slow down the run it’s going to be a long game.

Troy is going to struggle to stop the run, and this game is going to get ugly early. Look for Troy to give up at least 30 points and this game is going to get ugly early. Back Appalachian State to cruise to a victory and cover the spread.
