The UAB Blazers will travel to Joan C. Edwards Stadium to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The UAB Blazers improved to 6-3 on the season after defeating the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 52-38, this past Saturday. UAB had no trouble putting up offense against Louisiana Tech and was able to pull away after a 35-yard TD run by DeWayne McBride gave the Blazers a 38-24 lead with 9:07 left in the 4th quarter. UAB outgained Louisiana Tech by a 477-346 margin and forced 1 turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Blazers was RB DeWayne McBride who had 210 rushing yards & 4 TD on 14 carries.
On the season, UAB is averaging 28.8 ppg on 385.8 total yards per game (209.0 passing yds/g; 176.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, UAB has been led by the RB duo of DeWayne McBride (121 att, 834 yards, 8 TD) & Jermaine Brown Jr. (88 att, 452 yards, 4 TD). QB Dylan Hopkins has completed 61.2% of his passes for 1474 yards, 11 TD, & 4 INT while also rushing for 3 TD. The Marshall Thundering Herd won their 4th straight game and improved to 6-3 on the season after defeating the Florida Atlantic Owls, 28-13, this past Saturday. Marshall trailed by a 13-7 margin early in the 2nd quarter, however, the defense was solid the rest of the way and the Thundering Herd was able to pull away after closing out the game scoring 21 unanswered points. Marshall outgained Florida Atlantic by a 447-441 margin and forced 1 turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Thundering Herd was RB Rasheen Ali who rushed for 90 yards & 2 TD on 18 carries.
On the season, Marshall is averaging 36.0 ppg on 496.4 total yards per game (336.7 passing yds/g; 159.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Marshall has been led by RB Rasheen Ali who has rushed for 898 yards & 17 TD on 167 carries while also hauling in 31 receptions for 264 yards & 1 TD. QB Grant Wells has completed 67.4% of his passes for 2861 yards, 11 TD, & 11 INT while also rushing for 6 TD. Defensively, Marshall is holding their opponents to an average of 19.0 ppg on 384.1 total yards per game (174.2 passing yds/g; 209.9 rushing yds/g).
The Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games. The Thundering Herd are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and 7-21 ATS in their last 28 games as a home favorite.
Marshall comes into this game on a 4-game wining streak, however, they haven’t played the toughest of competition and this is still a team that has struggled at times this season in losses against East Carolina & Middle Tennessee. UAB has been solid defensively this season, especially against opposing rushing attacks as they rank 24th in rushing defense, and as I think the Blazers will be able to force Grant Wells in making a few turnovers, I think UAB keeps this one close and at worst, cover with the points. Good Luck!
