The South Carolina Gamecocks and Missouri Tigers face off on Saturday in an SEC college football showdown at Faurot Field. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was Missouri that came away with the 17-10 victory.
The South Carolina Gamecocks come into this game with a 5-4 record overall but they are coming off a quite impressive victory over the Florida Gators. South Carolina’s offense scored 40 points. Quarterback Jason Brown made his first start for South Carolina against Florida he threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs Kevin Harris and Zaquandre White also rushed for over 110 yards. South Carolina is averaging 23 points per game while their defense is giving up 23.7 points per game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Missouri Tigers who sit with a 4-5 record overall and they are coming off a terrible loss against the Georgia Bulldogs. The offense scored only six points, and that led to a 43-6 defeat. Missouri is averaging 31.6 points while their defense is giving up 36.8 points per game. Connor Bazelak is the starting quarterback for Missouri, but he is dealing with an undisclosed injury and it’s unclear if he will be able to go in this game. In the last game, Brady Cook and Tyler Macon started under center and they will probably both play if Bazelak can’t go. Running back Tyler Badie has also had a big season rushing for 1,030 yards and 11 touchdowns.
South Carolina is 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games as an underdog. Missouri is 1-7 against the spread in their last eight conference games. The over is 8-1 in South Carolina’s last nine games. The over is 4-0 in Missouri’s last four games as a favorite. The under is 8-1 in the last nine meetings.
When these two teams face off the under has been a strong play, and it’s going to be no different in this game. Look for Missouri especially to struggle to move the ball, and there just won’t be enough points by either team. Back the under.
