The Baylor Bears will host the Oklahoma Sooners as both of these successful programs aim for the playoffs. The Sooners are coming off of a bye week and have not lost a game this season. The Bears are 7-2 and failed to cover in last week’s 30-28 upset loss to TCU.
With Freshman QB Caleb Williams taking over the offense the Sooners have been a better cover team. Williams completed 23 of his 30 passes for 402 passing yards and six touchdowns in their last game. The biggest reason for Sam Rattler’s benching was the amount of turnovers. Williams had zero turnovers on the day in almost a perfect win.
This high-powered Sooners offense has scored at least 35 points in five straight games. They head into this game ranked fifth in the nation in scoring at 42.9 points per game.
Baylor quarterback Gerry Bohanon is more than capable of keeping up with the high scoring Sooner offense. Bohanon finished 14-of-20 passing for 214 yards with three TDs and two interceptions in the loss to TCU.
The Bears aren’t giving up a ton of passing touchdowns, but they’re giving up 237.8 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks.
The Sooners have a 28-3 advantage in the series and have won the last seven meetings.
In its last 10 games off byes, Oklahoma is 9-1 straight up and 7-3 against the spread. The Sooners are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and 7-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Sooners are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Baylor and I look for them to go against the trend here and grab an ATS win.
