The New Mexico State Aggies will look for their second win of the season when they face the Alabama Crimson Tide, one of the best programs in the nation this season. This is also Alabama’s Homecoming game.
The Aggies are 1-8 on the season with the lone win coming against FCS South Carolina State in September. They have not faced a ranked opponent this season, with their toughest task coming against San Diego State on Sept. 4. They covered the 31.5-point spread in a 28-10 loss to keep things competitive. They have covered the spread in six of their eight games, including all five of their road games.
They come into this one off of a 22-point loss to Utah State. Quarterback Jonah Johnson has completed 57.5% of his passes for 1,975 yards and eight touchdowns to seven interceptions. He’s been sacked 26 times.
Alabama remained in the No. 2 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings despite a lackluster 20-14 win over LSU last weekend. Alabama’s offense ranks No. 13 nationally, putting up 473.3 yards per game and scoring 43.0 points per game.
They are led by Heisman Trophy frontrunner Bryce Young, who has completed 69.4% of his passes for 2,755 yards and 28 touchdowns. He has only thrown three interceptions in 304 pass attempts.
They are facing a New Mexico State defense that is No. 120, allowing 462.6 yards per game.
I love Alabama in this spot as they will get the win by a lot of points. 50! I can’t take 50 as this is still a division 1 program. The Aggies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight up loss. I like the points with the Aggies here.
