The Iowa State Cyclones and Texas Tech Red Raiders face off on Saturday in a Big 12 college football showdown at Jones AT&T Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020, it was Iowa State that won 31-15.
Iowa State currently sits with a 6-3 record overall, and they are coming off a big win in the last game. Iowa State gave up only seven points to Texas, and if the defense can be good again, they will be in good shape. Iowa State on the season is averaging 31.89 points while their defense is giving up 18.2 points per game. Under center for Iowa State is Brock Purdy who has thrown for 2,085 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four interceptions. The offense has had a few bad games this season, and if they want to win this game it’s going to need to be the offense that steps up.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texas Tech Red Raiders who made a coaching change earlier this season but they do sit with a 5-4 record. In the last game though the defense really struggled giving up 52 and that led to the blowout defeat. Texas Tech is averaging 32,8 points while their defense is giving up 33 points per game. In the last game Donovan Smith got the start throwing for 191 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. It appears that Smith wll get the start again in this game.
Texas Tech is 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five home games. Iowa State is 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five meetings in Texas Tech. The home team is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last six meetings.
The home team has found success in this series and it’s going to be no different in this game. For the most part, this season the Red Raiders offense has been good, and they will find some offensive success again in this game. Back Texas Tech against the spread.
