The East Carolina Pirates will travel to Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium to take on the Memphis Tigers this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The East Carolina Pirates won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-4 on the season after defeating the Temple Owls, 45-3, this past Saturday. East Carolina dominated Temple on both ends of the field and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 21-0 lead. East Carolina lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin, however, did outgain Temple by a 450-168 margin in the victory. The Memphis Tigers improved to 5-4 on the season after defeating the SMU Mustangs, 28-25, this past Saturday. Memphis did a great job defensively, limiting the high-powered SMU offense to their lowest scoring output of the season and was able to hold off the Mustangs for the victory after a 40-yard TD reception by Sean Dykes gave Memphis a 28-10 lead early in the 4th quarter. Memphis outgained SMU by a 460-321 margin and won the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Tigers was QB Seth Henigan who completed 34 of 53 passes for 392 yards, 2 TD, & 1 INT.
On the season, Memphis is averaging 32.0 ppg on 462.3 total yards per game (311.1 passing yds/g; 151.2 rushing yds/g). Defensively, Memphis is allowing their opponents to average 29.1 ppg on 399.9 total yards per game (253.7 passing yds/g; 146.2 rushing yds/g).
The Pirates are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 7-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games. The Tigers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 40-187-2 ATS in their last 60 November games.
East Carolina has been outstanding ATS as of late and despite the tough road matchup against a very good Memphis offense, I think this is just too many points to give a Pirates team that has the offensive weapons to keep this game close. East Carolina has shown that they can play on the road as they lost road games to UCF & Houston by just a combined 11 points and as I think Holton Ahlers & Keaton Mitchell will have success against a Memphis scoring defense that ranks 90th in College Football, I’m taking East Carolina and the points. Good Luck!
