The Oklahoma State Cowboys and West Viriginia Mountaineers face off on Saturday in a Big 12 college football showdown at Milan Puskar Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was Oklahoma that won 27-13.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys sit with a 7-1 record overall and their only loss came against Iowa State. Oklahoma State did bounce back in a big way against Kansas scoring 55 points while only giving up three. The Cowboys are averaging 29.4 points while the defense is giving up 18 points per game. Under center for the Cowboys is Spencer Sanders and he has thrown for 1,341 yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Running back Jaylen Warren has also had a big season rushing for 850 yards and six touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the West Virginia Mountaineers who sit with a 4-4 record and their biggest issue has been the inconsistency. In the last game though the offense had one of their most complete showings putting up 38 points and that led to the victory over Iowa State. West Virginia is averaging 29.6 points while the defense is giving up 22.9 points per game. Under center for West Virginia is Jarret Doege and he has thrown for 2,071 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. If West Virginia wants to win this game it’s going to need to be the offense that has success early in this game and hope that will put enough pressure on Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys are 6-0against the spread in their last six games. West Virginia is 8-1-1 against the spread in the last ten games. The home team is 3-1-1 against the spread in the last five meetings. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
I expect another good showing from the Oklahoma State defense against the Mountaineers offense. I also think Oklahoma State will try to keep the ball on the ground, and this is going to be a lower-scoring game. Back the under.
