The Ohio State Buckeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers face off on Saturday in a Big Ten college football showdown at Memorial Stadium. When these two teams faced off in October of 2020, it was Ohio State that came away with the 52-17 victory.
Ohio State comes into this game with a 7-1 record overall but it still seems they control their destiny in terms of the college football playoff. In the last game against Penn State, Ohio State was tested but they still won by nine points. Ohio State is averaging 47.3 points while the defense is giving up 19.3 points per game. C.J Stroud might be the best quarterback in the Big Ten and he has thrown for 2,270 yards, 23 touchdowns, and three interceptions. TreVeyon Alexander has also rushed 107 times for 845 yards and 12 touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Nebraska Cornhuskers who need to win out to even be eligible for a bowl game. The Cornhuskers sit with a 3-6 record overall and they have lost three games in a row. The Cornhuskers are averaging 29.9 points per game while the defense is giving up 20.3 points per game. Adrian Martinez is under center for the Cornhuskers and for the most part he plays well but he seems to have one or two terrible decisions a game. Martinez has thrown for 2,264 yards, 12 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Martinez has also rushed for 451 yards and 11 touchdowns. In this game, if the Cornhuskers want to win it’s going to need to be the defense that is good.
Ohio State is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall. Nebraska is 9-20 against the spread in their last 29 games overall. The favorite is 5-1 against the spread in the last six meetings.
Nebraska’s defense hasn’t been great and Ohio State is going to run up the score against them. Look for Ohio State to get close to 50 points, and this game will be over by halftime. Back Ohio State against the spread.
