NC State faces Florida State on Saturday, November 6th, at Doak Campbell Stadium for a Week 10 ACC college football matchup.
NC State is coming off a 28-13 win over Louisville in its last game on October 30th. NC State is now 6-2 on the year and 3-1 in ACC play after the victory. NC State bounced back after its 31-30 loss to Miami a few weeks ago and the Wolfpack are now ranked #19 in the nation. NC State has scored 32 points per game so far this season as the Wolfpack have displayed a two-dimensional attack. NC State earns 143 rushing yards per game on 4.4 yards per attempt on the ground while also earning 274 passing yards per game as well. Quarterback Devin Leary had a rough start to the year but quickly picked up his play and he now has a 22:2 touchdown to interception ratio to go with 2,140 passing yards. Defensively, NC State has been rather stingy. NC State is only allowing 16 points per game and conceding just 328 total yards per game to its opponents on the year.
By now, you have probably learned about the Bad Beat Heard 'Round the World in which Florida State failed to cover a 9.5-point spread last week at Clemson. FSU was done four in the late going, but during a lateral fest on the last play of the game, Clemson was somehow able to scoop and score to make it a 10-point final score. Florida State is now 3-5 on the year and 2-3 in conference play after Clemson snapped its three-game win streak. Florida State is still in the running to be bowl eligible this year, but it is going to take an upset win either this week or against Miami or Florida later on in the season. Florida State is scoring 30 points per game and is earning 392 total yards of offense per game as well. On the defensive side, Florida State has allowed 27 points per game and its rush defense has not been great, allowing 162 rushing yards per game. These numbers have improved as the season has gone on, but Florida State's passing game and defense as a whole are the biggest question marks that remain.
These two teams met last season in what was a 38-22 victory for NC State at home. The home team has covered in six of the last seven games between these two while the under is 4-2 in the last six.
NC State is a 2.5-point favorite and the total is set at 56. I liked it better at three but I still do think the Seminoles are a live dog at home in this one. I think Florida State needs to focus on its greatest asset, its running game. Only running the ball 34 times against Clemson did not cut it and I think FSU will have a lot more production on the ground this week against a so-so rush defense of NC State.
