The Kansas State Wildcats will head on the road to Lawrence, Kansas as they wind down the Big 12 Conference season with a battle versus the Kansas Jayhawks at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Jayhawks are not only 1-7 straight up, they are also 1-7 ATS.
Kansas comes into this one after getting destroyed 55-3 last weekend against No. 15, Oklahoma State. Jason Bean has generated 1,188 passing yards on 97-173 passing with six touchdowns and six interceptions. Bean completed 3-10 passes for only 10 yards and threw two interceptions. He would be replaced by backup Miles Kendrick who only totaled 34 yards. Bean has also rushed for 388 yards and two touchdowns.
Kansas averages just 16 points per game. The Jayhawk defense is terrible and allows 44 points per game. The Wildcats are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games as few trends point in their favor.
Quarterback Skylar Thompson has looked great since returning from an early season injury. He’s completed 70.4 percent of his passes for 1,064 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions in four games. Last time out he passed for 242 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The K-State offense averages 27.5 points per game.
On defense, the Wildcats have given up 23 points per game, which ranks 49th in the country. Kansas State has given up only 348.6 total yards per game, 45th in the country, including just 121 rushing yards per game, good for 26th in the nation. This defense should have no trouble stopping the Jayhawks who seemingly have a non-existent offense.
There is no doubt about how flat Kansas is. As a team with nothing to play for however, this will likely be their most motivated spot left in the season. Regardless, the Wildcats have dominated ths matchup. They are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Kansas and are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 meetings. I got to go with the numbers here and take Kansas State to cover this large spread.
