The Indiana Hoosiers and Michigan Wolverines face off on Saturday in a Big Ten showdown at Michigan Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020, it was Indiana that came away with the 38-21 victory.
After so much success last season the Indiana Hoosiers have had some major struggles this season sitting with a 2-6 record overall. In the last game against Maryland, the Hoosiers were competitive scoring 35 points, but the defense gave up 38 points and that led to the loss. Indiana is averaging 22 points while the defense is giving up 31.6 points per game. The Hoosiers have dealt with plenty of injuries at quarterback, and the keys have now been turned over to Donaven McCulley who threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns in the last game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Michigan Wolverines who had quite the start to their season, but they need to bounce back after a loss against Michigan State. MIchigan looked like they were cruising to a victory. But they were outscored 15-3 in the 4th quarter, and that led to the four-point loss. The Wolverines couldn’t stop the run, and that is something that will need to be improved upon the rest of the season. Michigan is averaging 37.1 points while the defense is giving up 17.1 points per game. Under center for the Wolverines is Cade McNamara who has thrown for 1,498 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Hoosiers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games in November. Michigan is 0-5 against the spread in their last five games in November. The over is 7-3 in the last ten meetings between Michigan and Indiana. The underdog is 4-1-1 against the spread in the last five meetings.
Michigan is going to need to bounce back in this game, and although I think they win, I don’t think they are going to be very motivated for this game. McCulley looked good in the last game for Indiana and he is going to find success again in this one. Indiana might not win the game, but they will cover the spread.
