The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will travel to Allen E. Paulson Stadium on Saturday evening to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Sun Belt Conference matchup.  The Chanticleers are 7-1 and are coming off a home win over the Troy Trojans. So far, the Eagles are 2-6 and 1-4 in the Sunbelt.

For Coastal, Sophomore quarterback Grayson McCall finished 14-of-26 for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Last game saw only his second INT on the season as he is sixth in the nation with an 83.3 QBR while completing 73.4 percent of his passes for 2,063 yards with 17 touchdowns. 

The Chanticleers have a balanced game. They are ranked sixth in yards per game and they are only giving up 18.5 points per game.

Besides their lone loss on the season, costal has been a cover machine. The Chanticleers are 7-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. They are also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 conference games.

Now let’s talk about how bad Georgia Southern is. Defensively, they rank 124th as they are allowing 477.5 yards per game. They are giving up 32.3 points per game this season. Offensively, they also struggle to get hot as they rank 85th in yards per game. 

QB Justin Tomlin has a horrid 14.7 QBR while completing 52.1 percent of his passes for 786 passing yards. On the season he has just a single touchdown and seven interceptions. They even experimented with freshman quarterback Cam Ransom. They have hope on the ground with RB Logan Wright, but will struggle against this Coastal Defense that is ranked no. 29th in the nation. 

The Eagles have lost six of their seven games since beating Gardner-Webb in their season opener. The Eagles have been able to cover this year as they are 7-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. Eagles are also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog. It’s important to note that test numbers aren’t against AP ranked opponents. Coastal is the stronger team here by far and I see the Eagles struggling for every yard in this one.
