The Clemson Tigers and Louisville Cardinals face off on Saturday in an ACC college football showdown at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2019, Clemson came away with the 45-10 victory.
The Clemson Tigers have had all kinds of issues this season and they currently sit with a 5-3 record overall. Even though they have had some struggles, Clemson came away with the 30-20 victory against the Florida State Seminoles. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei completed 19 of his 31 passes for 189 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Clemson is averaging 21.3 points while the defense is giving up 15.3 points per game. Uigalelei has been inconsistent this season throwing for 1,291 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions. It’s clear at this point, the coaching staff doesn’t trust Uiagalelei, but if they are going to turn around the season, they are going to need more production out of the offense, especially their quarterback.
On the other side of this matchup is the Louisville Cardinals who sit with a 4-4 record but they are coming off a loss in their last game. The offense could only manage 13 points, and that led to the defeat. Louisville is averaging 29.4 points while the defense is giving up 27.1 points per game. Under center for Louisville is Malik Cunningham and he has thrown for1,903 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 556 yards and 13 touchdowns. There are five different players who have at least 260 receiving yards,
Clemson is 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games overall. Louisville is 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 home games. The under is 6-2 in Clemson’s last eight games overall. The under is 4-1 in Louisville’s last five games overall. The Tigers are 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings against Louisville.
Clemson beat Florida State by ten in the last game, but if it wasn’t for a last minute touchdown that was a result of a fumble it would have been a lot closer. This is a Clemson offense that isn’t very good, and their lack of scoring is going to keep Louisville in it. Back Louisville against the spread.
