The Virginia Tech Hokies and Boston College Eagles face off on Friday in an ACC college football showdown at BC Alumni Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020, it was Virginia Tech that won 40-14.
The Virginia Tech Hokies come into this game with a 4-4 record overall and they are coming off a 26-17 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Two games ago, Virginia Tech gave up 41 points to Syracuse. Virginia Tech is averaging 24 points while the defense is giving up 22.38 points. In this game the defense is going to need to be good and slow down the Boston College offense. Under center for Virginia Tech is Brandon Burmeister and he has thrown for 1,495 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions. Tre Turner has also had a big season catching 34 passes for 602 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Boston College Eagles who sit with a 4-4 record but they have lost four games in a row. In the last game against the Syracuse Orange, the offense managed only six points, and that led to the defeat. The Eagles are averaging 25.6 points while the defense is giving up 20.8 points per game. In the last game, Dennis Grosel and Emmett Moorehead both got playing time, although they both struggled. It’s unclear in this game who will get playing time, or if both guys will split reps. The offense clearly needs a boost so they might go with the hot hand.
Virginia Tech is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games overall. Boston College is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games. The under is 8-2 in Virginia Tech’s last 10 games overall. Virginia Tech is 3-7 against the spread in the last ten meetings.
Boston College’s offense hasn’t been good as of late, and points are going to be hard to come by in this game. Look for Virginia Tech to finish around 20 points, and the two offenses combined are going to keep this game under the total. Back the under.
