The Miami of Ohio Redhawks and Ohio Bobcats face off on Tuesday night in some MACtion at Peden Stadium. When these two teams last faced off in 2019, it was Miami that came away with the 24-21 victory.
The Miami of Ohio Redhawks come into this game with a 4-4 record overall and they have won two games in a row. In the last game against Ball State, it was eight points in the 4th quarter that was the difference as they came away with the seven-point victory. The Redhawks are averaging 23.8 points while the defense is giving up 22.3 points per game. This seems to be Brett Gabbert’s team now and he has thrown for 943 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. Keyon Mozee has also rushed for 342 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Ohio Bobcats who sit with a 1-7 record overall but in each of the last three games they have been competitive. In the last game against Kent State they almost made the comeback late, but it wasn’t enough as they lost by seven points. Ohio is averaging 21.1 points while the defense is giving up 31.1 points per game. Under center for Ohio is Kurtis Rourke and he has thrown for 962 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. Ohio is a run first team and there are three different players who have rushed for over 300 yards. De’Monte Tuggle has been the top running back rushing for 553 yards and five touchdowns.
The Redhawks are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games as a favorite. Ohio is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a home underdog. The under is 9-3 in Miami of Ohio’s last 12 road games. The under is 5-0 in Ohio’s last five games overall. The under is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
Ohio has done a good job of keeping games close and I expect that will be the case again in this game. This isn’t a Miami offense that is elite, and their lack of scoring will help keep this game close. Back Ohio against the spread.
