The Wyoming Cowboys will travel to CEFCU Stadium to take on the San Jose State Spartans this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Wyoming Cowboys lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 4-3 on the season after being defeated by the New Mexico Lobos, 14-3, this past Saturday. Wyoming once against struggled on the offensive end and could never fight back after a 43-yard TD reception by the Lobos Trace Bruckler gave New Mexico a 7-0 lead late in the 1st quarter. Wyoming was outgained by New Mexico by a 259-255 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Cowboys was WR Isaiah Neyor who had 2 receptions for 45 yards.

On the season, Wyoming is averaging 22.1 ppg on 322.1 total yards per game (169.0 passing yds/g; 153.1 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Wyoming is led by the RB duo of Xazavian Valladay (107 att, 512 yards, 4 TD; 13 rec, 173 yards) & Titus Swen (56 att, 279 yards, 2 TD). QB Sean Chambers has completed 50.6% of his passes for 1100 yards, 6 TD, & 7 INT while also rushing for 183 yards & 3 TD. The top receiving threats for the Cowboys have been Isaiah Neyor (20 rec, 345 yards, 4 TD), Ayden Eberhardt (20 rec, 286 yards), & Parker Christensen (10 rec, 102 yards).

Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 21.1 ppg on 311.1 total yards per game (152.0 passing yds/g; 159.1 rushing yds/g).

The San Jose State Spartans snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 4-4 on the season after defeating the UNLV Rebels, 27-20, on October 21st. San Jose State trailed by a 17-3 margin midway through the 2nd quarter, however, San Jose State was solid on the offensive end the rest of the way and took the lead for good on a 15-yard TD run by Nick Nash with 7:14 left in the 4th quarter. San Jose State lost the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin, however, did outgained UNLV by a 429-335 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Spartans was QB Nick Nash who completed 17 of 28 passes for 213 yards while also rushing for 121 yards & 1 TD on 17 carries.

On the season, San Jose State is averaging 20.4 ppg on 346.5 total yards per game (225.0 passing yds/g; 121.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, San Jose State has been without QB Nick Starkel for a few weeks due to an arm injury and is currently questionable for this matchup, however, QB Nick Nash has been decent since filling in as he has completed 57.3% of his passes for 788 yards, 5 TD, & 2 INT while also rushing for 226 yards & 1 TD. In the backfield with Nash has been RB Tyler Nevens who has 512 rushing yards & 6 TD on 116 carries. The top receiving threats for the Spartans have been Derrick Deese Jr. (31 rec, 553 yards, 3 TD), Isaiah Hamilton (22 rec, 345 yards, 2 TD), Charles Ross (23 rec, 248 yards, TD), & Jermaine Braddock (13 rec, 190 yards, 2 TD).

Defensively, San Jose State is allowing their opponents to average 22.8 ppg on 349.0 total yards per game (222.4 passing yds/g; 126.6 rushing yds/g).

The Cowboys are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Conference games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Spartans are 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning record and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 home games.

San Jose State is not as strong of a team that we saw last season, however, the Spartans are still solid defensively and should not have any problem slowing down a Wyoming offense that has put up just a combined 17 points over their last three games. San Jose State gave San Diego State all they could handle in their recent home game and as I think Nick Nash and the Spartans offense will be able to generate some offense against the Cowboys, I’m taking San Jose State to cover this small home spread. Good Luck!
