TCU faces Kansas State on Saturday, October 30th, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium for a Week 9 Big 12 college football matchup.
TCU is coming off a 29-17 loss to West Virginia at home last week. TCU was a 4.5-point favorite in that contest, but the offense was held to 0 points in the second half as quarterback Max Duggan struggled. TCU has now lost two straight games and is 3-4 on the year with a 1-3 conference record. TCU had arguably its worst offensive performance of the season last week against a tough West Virginia defense, and now the Horned Frogs have to take on another tough team defensively in Kansas State. TCU is scoring 34 points per game on the year and earning 449 total yards of offense per contest as well. TCU's defense has not been sharp in 2021, allowing 451 yards per game and 32 points per game.
Kansas State is coming off a nice 25-24 win over Texas Tech on the road last week. Kansas State ended as a one-point favorite before the game, so Kansas State's official record against the spread is now 3-3-1 with the push. Kansas State is also 1-3 in Big 12 play this season but had snapped a three-game losing streak with its win over Texas Tech. Kansas State is scoring 27 points per game this season despite only earning 360 total yards of offense per game. Kansas State has been affected by the turnover battle, as on the year the Wildcats are -3 in their turnover ratio. Kansas State's defense, as mentioned before, has held up well on the year. K-State is allowing 25 points per game and has been strong against the run, allowing only 3.5 yards per attempt on the ground.
The last time these two teams faced each other was last season in which Kansas State was victorious by the final score of 21-14 at TCU.
Kansas State is a 3.5-point favorite and the total is set at 58.5. I am going to lean with K-State in this spot, and I may decide to buy the hook down to that key number of 3. Kansas State is just the better team in my eyes and has certainly had the tougher schedule in facing Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Iowa State in a four-week timeframe. I think the Wildcats get it done at home here.
