Missouri faces Vanderbilt on Saturday, October 30th, at Vanderbilt Stadium for a Week 9 SEC college football matchup.
Missouri had its bye week last week after its most recent loss to Texas A&M on October 16th. Missouri dropped that game by the final score of 35-14, pushing the Tigers' record to 3-4 on the year and 0-3 in SEC play. Missouri has notoriously been terrible against the run this season, allowing over 285 yards per game on the ground. In SEC play, Missouri has allowed 132 points and 1,073 rushing yards in three games. Missouri's offense has been solid, scoring 34 points per game and earning 447 total yards per game, but it has not been nearly enough to counter the mistakes on defense. Missouri will look to sharpen up defensively after its bye week facing a Vanderbilt team that has not impressed on the ground at all this year.
Vanderbilt was blown out by Mississippi State, 45-6, in its most recent game last week. Vandy is now 2-6 on the year and 0-4 in SEC play after the loss. Vanderbilt has been a tough team to read this season, as one week the Commodores are competing well against South Carolina on the road, and the next week they get blown out at home. Vanderbilt's offense is only putting up 13 points per game and 291 total yards per contest as well. Vanderbilt has been shut out twice this season (Georgia and Florida). Defensively, things have not been much better for Vandy. The team is allowing 35 points per game, 459 total yards of offense per game, and has not been able to get virtually any pressure on opposing quarterbacks all season. Vanderbilt is averaging less than a sack per game and as a result, the defense has suffered.
Missouri is a 16-point favorite and the total is set at 62.5. It is really tough to lay points with a team that struggles that much against the run, but Missouri's offense should be too much for Vanderbilt to handle here. Vandy should be able to find a few scores but in the end, Missouri should be able to score at will against a weak defense. I will lay the points with Missouri here.
