The Louisville Cardinals will travel to Carter-Finley Stadium to take on the NC State Wolfpack this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Louisville Cardinals snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 4-3 on the season after defeating the Boston College Eagles, 28-14, this past Saturday. Louisville struggled a bit with turnovers, however, the defense was solid against the Eagles and the Cardinals had no trouble holding onto the victory after going into halftime with a 21-7 lead. Louisville outgained Boston College by a 438-266 margin, however, did lose the turnover battle by a 4-3 margin. Leading the way for the Cardinals was QB Malik Cunningham who despite having a tough day throwing the football (9 for 17, 107 yards, 2 INT) was very successful on the ground raking up 133 yards & 3 TD on 16 carries.

On the season, Louisville is averaging 31.7 ppg on 450.1 total yards per game (249.1 passing yds/g; 201.0 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Louisville has been led by QB Malik Cunningham who has completed 63.4% of his passes for 1684 yards, 8 TD, & 4 INT while also leading the Cardinals in rushing with 480 yards & 13 TD on 92 carries. In the backfield with Cunningham has been the duo of Jalen Mitchell (96 att, 424 yards, 3 TD) & Hassan Hall (32 att, 237 yards, TD). The top receiving threats for the Cardinals have been Marshon Ford (30 rec, 313 yards, TD), Jordan Watkins (24 rec, 307 yards, TD), Tyler Harrell (8 rec, 272 yards, 3 TD), & Ahmari Huggins-Bruce (13 rec, 260 yards, TD).

Defensively, Louisville is allowing their opponents to average 27.0 ppg on 423.1 total yards per game (276.3 passing yds/g; 146.9 rushing yds/g).

The NC State Wolfpack had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 5-2 on the season after being defeated by the Miami Hurricanes, 31-30, this past Saturday. NC State fought back from an early 14-3 deficit to go into halftime with a 17-14 lead, however, the Wolfpack defense struggled in the 2nd half and could not fight back after Miami took a 31-27 lead with 9:34 left in the 4th quarter. NC State outgained Miami by a 421-420 margin, however, did force a Miami turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Wolfpack was QB Devin Leary who completed 24 of 42 passes for 310 yards & 2 TD.

On the season, NC State is averaging 32.0 ppg on 424.7 total yards per game (267.4 passing yds/g; 157.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, NC State has been led by QB Devin Leary who has completed 65.6% of his passes for 1844 yards, 17 TD, & 2 INT. The top receiving threats for Leary and the Wolfpack have been Emeka Emezie (37 rec, 452 yards, TD), Thayer Thomas (34 rec, 383 yards, 6 TD), & Devin Carter (19 rec, 323 yards, 3 TD). Leading the way for the NC State backfield has been the duo of Zonovan Knight (90 att, 519 yards, 3 TD) & Ricky Person Jr. (86 att, 438 yards, 4 TD).

Defensively, NC State is holding their opponents to an average of 16.7 ppg on 312.6 total yards per game (219.4 passing yds/g; 93.1 rushing yds/g).

The Cardinals are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are just 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games as a road underdog. The Wolfpack are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 conference games.

NC State has been a tough team at home this season, however, despite the defense coming into this game with great numbers, it was a bit concerning to see the NC State gave up 31 points to an injury riddled Miami Hurricanes offense last week. Louisville has one of the best players in the ACC in dual-threat QB Malik Cunningham who is a matchup nightmare for any defense and as we’ve seen the Cardinals be competitive in close losses recently at Wake Forest and at home against Virginia, I think the Cardinals do enough in this one to cover with the points. Good Luck!
