The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will travel to Riccardo Silva Stadium to take on the Florida International Panthers this Thursday night in College Football action.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 2-4 on the season after defeating the Old Dominion Monarchs, 43-20, this past Saturday. Western Kentucky had no trouble finding the end zone against the Old Dominion defense and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 30-3 lead. Western Kentucky outgained Old Dominion by a 518-446 margin and won the turnover battle by a 3-1 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Hilltoppers WR Jerreth Sterns who had 13 receptions for 221 yards & 1 TD.

On the season, Western Kentucky is averaging 40.8 ppg on 545.0 total yards per game (447.7 passing yds/g; 97.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Western Kentucky has been led by QB Bailey Zappe who has completed 69.7% of his passes for 2632 yards, 26 TD, & 4 INT. The top receiving threats for Zappe and the Hilltoppers have been Jerreth Sterns (69 rec, 962 yards, 8 TD), Mitchell Tinsley (28 rec, 456 yards, 3 TD), Malachi Corley (36 rec, 346 yards, 4 TD), & Daewood Davis (16 rec, 284 yards, 3 TD). Leading the way for the Hilltoppers backfield has been the duo of Adam Cofield (45 att, 229 yards, 3 TD) & Noah Whittington (33 att, 184 yards).

Defensively, Western Kentucky is allowing their opponents to average 35.3 ppg on 474.4 total yards per game (278.5 passing yds/g; 196.2 rushing yds/g).

The Florida International Panthers lost their 5th straight game and dropped to 1-5 on the season after being defeated by the Charlotte 49ers, 45-33, on October 8th. Florida International struggled keeping the 49ers off the scoreboard and could not fight back after a 41-yard Jonathan Alexander TD reception gave Charlotte a 38-20 lead with 5:45 left in the 4th quarter. Florida International outgained Charlotte by a 538-378 margin, however, lost the turnover battle by a 1-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Panthers was QB Max Bortenschlager who has completed 19 of 30 passes for 466 yards, 4 TD, & 1 INT.

On the season, Florida International is averaging 27.8 ppg on 433.8 total yards per game (317.7 passing yds/g; 116.2 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Florida International has been led by QB Max Bortenschlager who has completed 54.0% of his passes for 1834 yards, 14 TD, & 5 INT. The top receiving threats for the Panthers have been Tyrese Chambers (20 rec, 672 yards, 6 TD), Bryce Singleton (26 rec, 473 yards, TD), Rivaldo Fairweather (11 rec, 176 yards, TD), & Kris Mitchell (6 rec, 133 yards, TD). Leading the way for the Panthers backfield has been D’Vonte Price who has 500 rushing yards & 6 TD on 94 attempts.

Defensively, Florida International is allowing their opponents to average 36.8 ppg on 482.0 total yards per game (295.2 passing yds/g; 186.8 rushing yds/g).

The Hilltoppers are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a road favorite. The Panthers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 October games.

This should be a fun game of watch as there is going to be plenty of offense in this one. Western Kentucky has the top-rated passing offense in College Football and Bailey Zappe should have plenty of success against the Florida International passing defense that ranks 123rd in College Football. Florida International has put up at least 21 points in their last 4 games and although their offense is not as explosive as the Hilltoppers, Max Bortenschlager has shown that he can find the end zone. This is a high total, however, I see this game combing for 80+ points and I think the play here is to take the Over. Good Luck!
