The 10th ranked Oregon Ducks will travel to the Rose Bowl to take on the UCLA Bruins this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The 10th ranked Oregon Ducks improved to 5-1 on the season after defeating the California Bears, 24-17, on October 15th. Oregon trailed by a 17-10 margin early into the 4th quarter, however, the Ducks were solid down the stretch and was able to avoid the upset loss after a 11-yard TD run by Anthony Brown gave the Ducks the lead for good with 4:50 left in regulation. Oregon lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin, however, did outgain California by a 454-402 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Ducks was RB Travis Dye who had 145 rushing yards & 1 TD on 19 carries.
On the season, Oregon is averaging 33.8 ppg on 426.7 total yards per game (216.3 passing yds/g; 210.3 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Oregon is led by QB Anthony Brown who has completed 58.9% of his passes for 1194 yards, 7 TD, & 1 INT while also rushing for 242 yards & 5 TD. Oregon suffered a big blow in its backfield after losing RB CJ Verdell for the season, however, still has a very talented RB in Travis Dye who has 527 rushing yards & 4 TD on 79 carries while also hauling in 15 receptions for 153 yards. The top receiving threats for the Ducks have been Johnny Johnson III (14 rec, 200 yards, TD), Jaylon Redd (8 rec, 139 yards, 2 TD), & Mycah Pittman (5 rec, 136 yards).
Defensively, Oregon is holding their opponents to an average of 21.0 ppg on 407.8 total yards per game (270.5 passing yds/g; 137.3 rushing yds/g).
The UCLA Bruins won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-2 on the season after defeating the Washington Huskies, 24-17, this past Saturday. UCLA dominated Washington on both ends of the field and was able to secure the victory after a 9-yard TD reception by Greg Dulcich gave the Bruins the lead for good with 8:19 left in the 4th quarter. UCLA outgained Washington by a 420-267 margin and won the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Bruins was QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson who completed 21 of 26 passes for 183 yards & 2 TD while also rushing for 87 yards & 1 TD on 12 carries.
On the season, UCLA is averaging 33.9 ppg on 425.4 total yards per game (205.3 passing yds/g; 220.1 rushing yds/g). Offensively, UCLA has been led by QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson who has completed 60.8% of his passes for 1419 yards, 13 TD, & 2 INT while also rushing for 328 yards & 5 TD. In the backfield with Thompson-Robinson has been the duo of Zach Charbonnet (110 att, 697 yards, 7 TD) & Brittain Brown (73 att, 467 yards, 4 TD). The top receiving threats for the Bruins have been Greg Dulcich (21 rec, 374 yards, 3 TD), Kyle Philips (24 rec, 369 yards, 6 TD), Chase Cota (9 rec, 155 yards, TD), & Kam Brown (9 rec, 154 yards, 2 TD).
Defensively, UCLA is allowing their opponents to average 25.1 ppg on 381.1 total yards per game (290.1 passing yds/g; 91.0 rushing yds/g).
The Ducks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog, however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win. The Bruins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 October games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Oregon might be ranked in the top-10 in the country, however, the Ducks just haven’t looked great recently and it’s a bit concerning to see their offense only put up 24 ppg over their last two games. UCLA has plenty of weapons on the offensive end to put points on the board, however, the Bruins have also been solid defensively against the run as they come into this game ranked 9th in rushing defense. Oregon generally plays to the level of their competition and between the fact that I think UCLA will have success defensively against Oregon and that Dorian Thompson-Robinson will find the end zone a few times, I think UCLA wins this one at home and covers this small spread. Good Luck!
