The LSU Tigers and Ole MIss Rebels face off on Saturday in an SEC college football showdown at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2020 it was LSU that won 53-48.
The LSU Tigers come into this game with a 4-3 record but they are coming off an impressive victory in the last game over Florida. The offense scored 49 points, and that led to the victory. After the game it was announced that Ed Orgeron wouldn’t be back next season, but will coach out the rest of the season. LSU is averaging 32.4 points while the defense is giving up 28.4 points per game. Under center for LSU will be Max Johnson and he has thrown for 1,863 yards, 20 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Running back Tyrion Davis-Price has been the top back rushing for 574 yards, and five touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is Ole Miss who sits with a 5-1 record and they are coming off a big win over the Tennessee Volunteers. It was actually the defense that was the difference in that game giving up only 26 points, and that led to the victory. Ole Miss is a team that usually leans on the offense averaging 43.7 points per game while the defense is giving up 30.2 points per game. Under center for Ole Miss is Matt Corral and he is having a big year throwing for 1728 yards, 14 touchdowns, and one interception. He has also rushed 88 times for 450 yards and eight touchdowns. In this game Ole Miss needs to attack the weak defense of LSU.
LSU is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games as a road underdog. Ole Miss is 7-2-1 against the spread in their last ten games against teams with a losing record. The over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Ole Miss. The over is 4-0-1 n the last five meetings.
These are two teams who have elite offenses and there will be no shortage of scoring in this game. Look for both teams to finish over 40 points, and this game is going to go well over the total. This is a game I would buy all the way up to 82 or 83 and still feel very comfortable about it hitting.
