The Colorado Buffaloes and California Golden Bears face off on Saturday in a Pac-12 college football showdown at California Memorial Stadium. When these two last faced off in 2018, it was California that won 33-21.
The Colorado Buffaloes have had some issues this season, but they are coming off a blowout victory. The Buffaloes only have two wins on the season, but in the last game against Arizona they locked down winning 34-0. For the most part, this season the offense has been a struggle averaging only 17.2 points per game while the defense is giving up 19.8 points. This is a team that couldn’t score against Minnesota earlier this season. Under center for Colorado is Brendon Lewis and he has thrown for 723 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jarek Broussard has been the top running back rushing for 309 yards and two touchdowns. In this game, Colorado needs to find a way to keep the offense going.
On the other side of this matchup is the Cal Golden Bears who sit with a 1-5 record overall and their only win came against an FCS level team against Sacramento State. In the last game against Oregon, California was competitive, but they still lost by seven points. Cal gave up 14 points in the 4th quarter, and that led to the loss. Cal is averaging 23 points while the defense is giving up 27 points per game. Chase Garbers is under center for Cal and he has thrown for 1,492 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. Damien Moore has also rushed for 359 yards and five touchdowns.
Colorado is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games. Cal is 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games against a team with a losing record. Colorado is 4-1 against the spread in the last five games against Cal. The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings.
There is no chance I am laying this type of number with Cal. This is the same Cal team that beat Sacramento State by only 12 points and Colorado is a much better team than that. Look for Colorado to find enough offense in this game to keep this game close. Back Colorado to cover the spread.
Shane’s Pick Colorado +8.5
