The Cincinnati Bearcats and Navy Midshipmen face off on Saturday in an AAC college football showdown at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. These two teams have faced off four times before, and Navy won three of the games.
Cincinnati comes into this game with a perfect 6-0 record and they need to keep dominating teams to make the college football playoff. This Bearcats team has beaten Indiana and Notre Dame and in the last game against Central Florida, they won 56-21. Cincinnati is averaging 43.5 points while the defense is giving up 13.6 points per game. Quarterback Desmond Ridder is having a big season throwing for 1,444 yards, 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jerome Ford has also had a big game on the ground rushing for 709 yards and 12 touchdowns. The offense will need to be good, but more impressive needs to be the defense locking down
On the other side of this matchup is Navy who sits with a 1-5 record overall but that win was an impressive one over UCF. In the last game against Memphis, the offense struggled again scoring only 17 runs, and that led to the 18 point defeat. Navy is averaging 17.5 points while the defense is giving up 32.6 points per game. Navy is a run first team that is averaging 216.3 yards per game on the ground. Isaac Ruoss has been the top player for Navy rushing for 308 yards and two touchdowns. In this game, Navy needs to find a way to have the defense step up or this can be a long game for the Midshipmen.
Cincinnati is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games. Navy is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games. The over is 5-0 in Cincinnati’s last five conference games. The under is 5-2 in Navy’s last seven games against a team with a winning record.
Navy’s offense isn’t great, and they are going to struggle to score in this game. Look for Cincinnati to have another big game from Ridder, and Navy isn’t going to keep this game close. I don’t see Navy scoring more than 10 points and Cincinnati will come away with a cover of the spread.
