The 21st ranked SMU Mustangs improved to 6-0 on the season after defeating the Navy Midshipmen, 31-24, on October 9th. SMU had all they could handle from Navy as they entered the 4th quarter tied at 21 all, however, the Mustangs was able to take the lead for good after a 22-yard TD reception by Jordan Kerley gave SMU a 28-21 with 8:19 left in the game. The Green Wave are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Mustangs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as a home favorite and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Tulane certainly has some talent on the offensive end, and I think is better than what their record indicates, however, this is a team that has really struggled defensively as they come into this game ranked just 127th in scoring defense. SMU has one of the most talented receiving cores in all of College Football and with Tanner Mordecai having a solid season behind center SMU comes into this game ranked 10th in scoring offense & 14th in passing offense. I think Tulane will be able to put up some points against an SMU defense that I think isn’t as good as their stats show, however, as SMU is always solid at home and that I think they will be able to score at will against the Green Wave defense, I think SMU wins this one by at least two TD’s and covers this spread.
