The UCF Knights and Cincinnati Bearcats face off on Saturday in an AAC conference college football showdown at Nippert Stadium. When these two teams faced off in November of 2020, Cincinnati won 36-33.
The Central Florida Knights have been a major disappointment this season sitting with a 3-2 record overall but they are coming off a win in their last game. In that game against East Carolina the offense still only managed 20 points, but the defense gave up only 16, and that led to the victory. UCF is averaging 36.8 points per game while their defense is giving up 27.4 points. Starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel broke his collarbone a few weeks ago, which means this is Mikey Keene’s team now. Keene has thrown for 427 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. If Central Florida wants any chance to keep this game close, the offense is going to need to have a big game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Cincinnati Bearcats who have a perfect 5-0 record, and right now the dreams are of making the college football championship game. In Cincinnati’s last game they had another dominating victory, beating Temple 52-3. The Bearcats are averaging 41 points while the defense is giving up 12.2 points. Under center for Cincinnati is Desmond Ridder and he has thrown for 1,304 yards, 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Running back Jerome Ford is also having a big season rushing for 520 yards and eight touchdowns.
UCF is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games overall. Cincinnati is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games. The over is 6-2 in Cincinnati's last eight games as a favorite. The home team is 5-1 in the last six meetings played between the two teams.
This isn’t the same UCF team as the last couple of years, and they just don’t have the offense to keep this game close. Cincinnati is going to have another big game from Ridder and this game is going to get out of hand early. Look for Cincinnati to score at least 42 points, and the Bearcats will cover the spread.
