The Auburn Tigers will travel to Razorback Stadium to take on the 17th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The Auburn Tigers had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 4-2 on the season after being defeated by the 2nd ranked Georgia Bulldogs, 34-10, this past Saturday. Auburn had no answers on the defensive end against the Bulldogs offense and could not fight back after a 60-yard TD reception by the Bulldogs Adonai Mitchell gave Georgia a 24-3 lead midway through the 3rd quarter. Auburn was outgained by Georgia by a 432-318 margin and committed 1 turnover in the loss. Leading the way for the Tigers was QB Bo Nix who completed 21 of 38 passes for 217 yards & 1 INT.
On the season, Auburn is averaging 35.0 ppg on 451.3 total yards per game (245.2 passing yds/g; 206.2 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Auburn has been led by the RB duo of Jarquez Hunter (47 att, 465 yards, 3 TD) & Tank Bigsby (84 att, 458 yards, 5 TD). QB Bo Nix who has completed 57.8% of his passes for 6 TD & 1 INT while also rushing for 117 yards & 1 TD. The top receiving threats for Nix and the Tigers have been Kobe Hudson (19 rec, 267 yards, 1 TD), John Samuel Shenker (19 rec, 256 yards), Demetris Robertson (21 rec, 231 yards, 2 TD), & Shedrick Jackson (16 rec, 210 yards, TD).
Defensively, Auburn is holding their opponents to an average of 19.2 ppg on 320.7 total yards per game (216.0 passing yds/g; 104.7 rushing yds/g).
The 17th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 4-2 on the season after being defeated by the 17th ranked Ole Miss Rebels, 52-51, this past Saturday. In an exciting back and forth game in the 2nd half, Arkansas scored a TD as time expired to make it a one-point game, however, the Razorbacks decided to go for the victory and came up short on the two-point conversation. Arkansas outgained Ole Miss by a 676-611 margin, however, lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Razorbacks was KJ Jefferson who completed 25 of 35 passes of 326 yards, 3 TD, & 1 INT while also rushing for 85 yards & 3 TD’s.
On the season, Arkansas is averaging 32.3 ppg on 459.7 total yards per game (214.8 passing yds/g; 244.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arkansas has been led by QB KJ Jefferson who has completed 62.7% of his passes for 1235 yards, 9 TD & 3 INT while also rushing for 320 yards & 5 TD’s on 60 carries. Leading the way for the Arkansas backfield has been the duo of Trelon Smith (73 att, 387 yards, 4 TD) & Raheim Sanders (54 att, 324 yards, TD). The top receiving threats for the Razorbacks have been Treylon Burks (29 rec, 519 yards, 3 TD), Tyson Morris (11 rec, 204 yards, 2 TD), & Warren Thompson (11 rec, 179 yards, 2 TD).
Defensively, Arkansas is allowing their opponents to average 24.5 ppg on 337.5 total yards per game (156.0 passing yds/g; 181.5 rushing yds/g).
The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf. The Razorbacks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, however, are just 1-8-2 ATS in their last 11 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
Arkansas is a talented team, however, there offense is largely centered behind their rushing attack which is going to have its hands full against Auburn’s 24th ranked rushing defense. Ole Miss showed last week that the Arkansas defense can be exploited both on the run and through the air and as I think Auburn is going to make this a close game, I think the play here is to take the Tigers and the points. Good Luck!
