The Army Black Knights will travel to Camp Randall Stadium to take on the Wisconsin Badgers this Saturday night in College Football action.
The Army Black Knights had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 4-1 on the season after being defeated by the Ball State Cardinals, 28-16, on October 2nd. Army had no answers early for the Ball State offensive and could not fight back after the Cardinals took a 21-0 lead with 4:48 left in the 1st quarter. Army outgained Ball State by a 279-269 margin, however, the Black Knights did lose the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. Leading the way for the Black Knights was Tyhier Tyler who had 63 rushing yards & 2 TD’s on 24 carries.
On the season, Army is averaging 34.4 ppg on 387.8 total yards per game (69.6 passing yds/g; 318.2 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Army is led by their rushing attack that comes into this game ranked 2nd in CFB. Leading the way for the Black Knights rushing attack have been QB Christian Anderson (58 att, 431 yards, 5 TD), RB Tyrell Robinson (25 att, 237 yards, 2 TD), RB Jakobi Buchanan (57 att, 187 yards, 4 TD), Anthony Adkins (40 att, 185 yards, 3 TD), & QB Tyhier Tyler (40 att, 185 yards, 3 TD). QB Christian Anderson has completed 8 of 15 passes for 187 yards & 3 TD’s while the Black Knights top receiving threats have been Isaiah Alston (3 rec, 75 yards, TD), Braheam Murphy (2 rec, 72 yards, 2 TD), & Tyrell Robinson (3 rec, 66 yards, TD).
Defensively, Army is holding their opponents to an average of 20.8 ppg on 276.0 total yards per game (222.0 passing yds/g; 54.0 rushing yds/g).
The Wisconsin Badgers improved to 2-3 on the season after defeating the Illinois Fighting Illini, 24-0, this past Saturday. Wisconsin was incredible defensively against Illinois and had no trouble picking up the victory after going into halftime with a 10-0 halftime lead. Wisconsin outgained Illinois by a 491-93 margin and committed 2 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Badgers was Chez Mellusi who had 145 rushing yards & 1 TD on 21 carries.
On the season, Wisconsin is averaging 19.6 ppg on 380.4 total yards per game (171.6 passing yds/g; 208.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Wisconsin has been led by the RB trio of Chez Mellusi (96 att, 477 yards, 3 TD), Braelon Allen (30 att, 180 yards, 2 TD), & Isaac Guerendo (23 att, 160 yards, TD). The Black Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Big Ten opponents, however, are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Badgers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
Army is a very solid team this season, however, I just can’t trust a run-first offense on the road against a Wisconsin defense that ranks 1st in College Football. Wisconsin has certainly have had it’s struggles on the offensive end, however, if Ball State was able to put up 28 points against Army, I think Wisconsin can do more damage and as I just don’t see army scoring more than two TD’s, I think the Badgers do enough to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
