The Arizona Wildcats will travel to Folsom Field to take on the Colorado Buffaloes this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The Arizona Wildcats (0-5) are still searching for their first win of the season after being defeated by the UCLA Bruins, 34-16, this past Saturday. Arizona had no answers for the UCLA offensive attack and could not fight back after a 4-yard TD run by the Bruins Dorian Thompson-Robinson gave UCLA a 24-16 lead late in the 3rd quarter. Arizona was outgained by UCLA by a 411-362 margin and committed 2 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Wildcats was QB Jordan McCloud who completed 21 of 30 passes for 182 yards.
On the season, Arizona is averaging 16.8 ppg on 363.2 total yards per game (250.8 passing yds/g; 112.4 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Arizona has been using multiple QB’s led by Jordan McCloud (65.8 Comp %, 481 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT) & Gunner Cruz (67.6 Comp %, 454 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT). The top receiving threats for the Wildcats have been Stanley Berryhill III (40 rec, 397 yards, 1 TD), BJ Casteel (19 rec, 179 yards, TD), Tayvian Cunningham (14 rec, 177 yards, TD), & Boobie Curry (13 rec, 147 yards, 2 TD). Leading the way for the Wildcats backfield has been the RB duo of Drake Anderson (62 att, 240 yards, TD) & Michael Wiley (51 att, 178 yards).
Defensively, Arizona is allowing their opponents to average 31.6 ppg on 373.2 total yards per game (154.0 passing yds/g; 219.2 rushing yds/g).
The Colorado Buffaloes lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 1-4 on the season after being defeated by the USC Trojans, 37-14, on October 2nd. Colorado once again struggled on the offensive end and could not fight back after falling behind by a 30-7 margin midway through the 3rd quarter. Colorado was outgained by USC by a 494-242 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Buffaloes was QB Brendon Lewis who completed 10 of 17 passes for 162 yards, 1 TD, & 1 INT.
On the season, Colorado is averaging 13.8 ppg on 239.6 total yards per game (100.4 passing yds/g; 139.2 passing yds/g). Offensively, Colorado has been led by the RB duo of Jarek Broussard (60 att, 256 yards, 2 TD) & Alex Fontenot (43 att, 160 yards, 2 TD). QB Brendon Lewis has completed 53.3% of his passes for 475 yards, 2 TD, & 2 INT while also rushing for 119 yards. The top receiving threats for the Buffaloes have been Brady Russell (9 rec, 124 yards), Daniel Arias (5 rec, 63 yards), & Brenden Rice (8 rec, 61 yards).
Defensively, Colorado is allowing their opponents to average 23.8 ppg on 383.6 total yards per game (227.8 passing yds/g; 155.8 rushing yds/g).
The Wildcats are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog and just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games. The Buffaloes are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
These are two of the worst teams in the Pac-12 as both Arizona and Colorado have really struggled putting up points this season as the Wildcats come into this game ranked just 123rd in scoring offense while the Buffaloes are ranked just 129th. The biggest difference in these teams is that Colorado has a solid defense which should be able to limit Arizona’s limited offensive attack and as the I think Buffaloes ground game has success against the Wildcats 120th ranked rushing defense, I think Colorado will be able to do just enough to win this one by a TD and cover this spread.
