The Utah Utes and USC Trojans face off on Saturday in a Pac-12 college football showdown at L.A. Memorial Coliseum. When these two teams faced off in November of 2020, USC won 33-17.
Utah comes into this game with a 2-2 record and they have lost two of their last three games. In the last game against Washington State, Utah’s defense was strong giving up only 13 points and that led to the victory. Utah is averaging 28 points while the defense is giving up 22.3 points per game. Quarterback Charlie Brewer has left the program which means Cameron Rising will get the start. Rising on the season has thrown for 319 yards and four touchdowns. Utah player Aaron Love was killed and this will be the first game since his death. It will be an emotional game for Utah but the hope is they can honor him with a win.
On the other side of this matchup is the USC Trojans who have already fired their coach and so far it’s been a disappointing season. USC currently sits with a 3-2 record and they are coming off a dominating win over Colorado 37-14. They are averaging 33.4 points while the defense is giving up 24.4 points. Under center for USC is Kedon Slovis and he has thrown for 1,118 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. The top running back for USC is Keaontay Ingram who has thrown for 349 yards and three touchdowns.
Utah is 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games in October. USC is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games following a straight-up win of more than 20 points. The over is 5-2 in Utes last seven games overall. The home team is 8-2 against the spread in the last ten meetings.
This has been a series that has been dominated by the home team, and it will be no different in this game. Utah is a lot better than Colorado, but USC got a lot of confidence from that game. In this game, look for USC’s offense to run up the score, and Utah won’t be able to keep up. Back USC against the spread.
