The TCU Horned Frogs and Texas Tech Red Raiders face off on Saturday in a Big 12 college football showdown at Jones AT&T Stadium. When these two faced off in 2020, TCU won 34-18.
TCU has had some major struggles this season and they currently sit with a 2-2 record. One of the wins was over a bad California team, and they only won that game by two points. Two games ago, TCU lost to SMU and in the last game against Texas, they lost 32-27. The Horned Frogs are averaging 35 points per game while their defense is giving up 27.2 points. One issue for this team has been the defense in the 1st quarter where they are ranked 108th. Under center for TCU is Max Duggan who has thrown for 899 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions. Running back Zach Evans is one of the best in the Big 12 conference and he has 443 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of this matchup is the Texas Tech Red Raiders who sit with a 4-1 record and their only loss came against Texas. In the last game, Texas Tech bounced back against West Virginia with the defense giving up 20 points. Texas Tech is averaging 35.6 points while the defense is giving up 30.8 points. The starting quarterback for Texas Tech is Henry Colombi and he has thrown for 598 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. This is the offense that hasn’t been good as years past, but they are going to need to be good in this game.
TCU is 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games. The over is 5-2 in TCU’s last seven road games. Texas Tech is 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games as a home underdog. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings. TCU is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games in Texas Tech.
Texas Tech’s offense isn’t as good this season and even though they have found success, I don’t see them scoring 30 or 35 points in this game. Look for this game to be a 27-24 type of game and the under will cash.
